Hi,
My name is Jennifer Maduka. A Nigerian Soprano.
I recently got admission to study a Graduate Performance Diploma (GPD) in Vocal Performance at the Longy School of Music, Boston - Massachusetts, starting in September 2021. The Graduate Performance Diploma is a 2-year programme that focuses intensively on training, performance, and professional opportunities.
I was awarded a scholarship of $27,000 out of $38,500 tuition fee, leaving me with $11,500 to pay.
Please kindly donate whatever you can to support me to Longy. Nothing is too small.

BACKGROUND:
I am the third child from a family 3 children and 2 parents. My father left my family when I was only six years old, leaving my mother to raise my sisters and me by herself, with no support from anyone but her small food business. My mother’s strength and faith taught me that anything is achievable if I set my mind to it with hard work and prayer.
Classical music has been my life since childhood. I started singing in my church choir at a very young age and this helped in boosting my confidence. In 2017, I applied to the MUSON School of Music Diploma programme. I was granted admission and was awarded a full scholarship by MTN to study vocal performance.
QUALIFICATION, SCHOLARSHIPS, AND AWARDS :
- Diploma in Vocal Performance (1st
Class), 2019
- Francesca Emmanuel’s award for
Best Female Operatic Singer, 2019
- Grade 8 singing certificate
(Distinction) from the Associate
Board of the Royal School of
Music, London, 2019
- Grade 7 music theory certificate
(MUSON), 2019
- MTN full Scholarship
- Certification of service
(for services provided as chief
welfare to the student body,
MUDISTA), 2019
- Best Singer award and winner of
Catholic music competition, 2016
- WAEC certificate, 2013
I am determined and motivated to study in Longy School of Music regardless of my financial situation for these reasons:
1. Attaining a great height and creating scholarships for young singers whose families cannot afford the cost of classical music in Nigeria
2. To provide free masterclasses during my study and after my study in Longy to young singers who aspire to attain a great height and career in classical music
3. As an advocate for Nigerian classical Music, I plan to promote our music in America by performing our songs and exposing the westerners to the beauty of Nigerian classical music. Nigeria has wonderful compositions that now suffer because many singers choose to associate themselves with music of the western world alone. I usually get goose bumps when I listen to compositions by some of Nigeria’s finest composers like Fela Sowande, Akin Euba, Ayo Bankole, Laz Ekueme, and down to my contemporaries like: Kehinde Oretimehin, Innocent Okechukwu, Seun Owoaje, etc. These are wonderful composers whose works would soar if they are given the recognition they deserve.
After my GPD programme, I plan to audition and further my education to a Doctorate level (DMA).
Thank you for your support and contributions.
God bless you.
